Inulin from chicory
Inulin from chicory
Inulin from chicory root is a type of fiber called fructan or fructooligosaccharide.
Inulin is a prebiotic, a compound that promotes the healthy growth of intestinal bacteria. Beneficial gut bacteria support gut health and immunity and reduce the risk of disease.
Inulin is found naturally in the roots of many foods, such as whole grains, onions, garlic and artichokes. It is usually extracted from chicory root and added to foods. Inulin is also fermentable fiber, meaning that bacteria metabolize it in the colon.
